Caged Freedom

I couldn't decide how to make the background for this. I tried a lot of colors but none of them looked anywhere near good. Then one day I was out and it was almost sunset. It started to drizzle. The gray clouds looked so beautiful in the deep, warm yellow light. The transition from the dull gray to the bright, inviting yellow was breathtaking. Watching that I instantly knew, those were the colors I needed for this painting.
Now I'm satisfied with it.
